One of the fastest growing sports in North America is soccer, and more specifically, women's soccer. The first Women's World Cup was held in China in 1991, and worldwide popularity has been increasing ever since.

Our star striker, or forward, is captured here in mid-action. Megan is trying to keep a bouncing ball in-bounds with one of those desperate, self-sacrificing kicks that will probably leave her lying on the ground. Anything for the team!

Artists note: This was a challenge for me, as I'd never attempted a figure standing on only one foot. To keep this sturdy, I engineered a series of connecting wires within her body, the strongest of which fits firmly into the base, through her foot.

The base had to be extra heavy and thick to accommodate this tricky situation, so I decided to spice up the sides a bit... I have always been interested in what lays buried beneath the ground, so I've placed a Pepsi can, an old shoe, and an animals skull...

Call me crazy.
