Undone (The Sweater Song) - Weezer, 1994

I'm me
Me be
Goddamn
I am
I can
Sing and
Hear me
Know me
If you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away

Oh no
It go
It gone
Bye-bye
Who I
I think
I sink
And I die

(chorus) if you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away
Watch me unravel Ill soon be naked
Lying on the floor, I've come undone

(repeat chorus)

If you want to destroy my sweater
(I don't want to destroy your tank-top)
Hold this thread as I walk away
(lets be friends and just walk away)
Watch me unravel I'll soon be naked
(hate you see you lyin there in your superman skivvies)
Lying on the floor, I've come undone

Weezer was originally from Los Angeles, but moved to New York to record in Electric Lady Studios under producer Ric Ocasek (of The Cars). In 1994, they released their first, self-titled album. It was an instant success with a perky song about Buddy Holly, and this unusual tale of a sweater's destruction...

In 2002, Weezer experimented with their album "Maladroit" - they allowed fans to download the works in progress, and then offer their opinions. The band felt it a failure, however, because there just wasn't any constructive or coherent advice for them to follow.

As for the fans' initiative, they have adopted a stylized W, and this symbol has been made into onto T-shirts, videos and on-stage background decorations for live shows. Maybe the fans ARE always right!
