This World of Water - New Musik , 1980

These waters have frozen
Can't break the ice no more
It's raining so hard now
Can't seem to find a shore

World of water
Where you swim for the other side
World of water
But you're swimming against the tide

This all goes so much deeper
Than some would like to say
Soaked in this world of water
Until it's washed away

World of water
Where you swim for the other side
World of water
But you're swimming against the tide
World of water
You can drown but you still survive

No colour no feeling
No time to sit around
No living no dying
No one here to be found
No entry no exit
I like to be beside the sea

The tide comes in once more but
I'm safe on higher ground
The water here still rising
It's come to drag me down

World of water
Where you swim for the other side
World of water
But you're swimming against the tide
World of water
You can drown but you still survive

New Musik was a band from London, England, who got their start on the British TV show, Top of the Pops. There were active only from 1979 to 1982, but they managed a few hits in the UK, including Straight Lines, Living by Numbers and This World of Water. Most of their song's lyrics touched on subjects of political and environmental interest.

The band's unique sound was produced through the use of early synthesizers such as the Prophet 5 and a Yamaha CS80. Unfortunately, without much promotional support and international air-play, their success was short-lived.

After New Musik's demise, singer and songwriter Tony Mansfield went on to a successful career helping to produce such acts as The B-52s, The Damned, Naked Eyes, Captain Sensible and Aztec Camera.
