Keep Your Hands to Yourself - Georgia Satellites, 1986
I got a little change in my pocket goin' jing-a-ling-a-ling B-b-b-baby baby baby why you wan' treat me this way
You know I'm still your lover boy I still feel the same way That's when she told me a story, 'bout free milk and a cow And said no hugg-ee no kiss-ee until I get a weddin' vow My honey my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself (Go man go)
Hold it here
See I wanted her real bad, and I was about to give in But that's when she started talking about true love, started talking about sin And I said, honey I'll live with you for the rest of my life, She said no hugg-ee no kiss-ee until you make me your wife-a My honey my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself

Kick-ass, loud, no-apologies southern rock from some Georgia good old boys - this is what made the Georgia Satellites a big hit with their self-titled debut album from Elektra Records. Influences from the likes of Chuck Berry, Little Feat, and oh ya - AC/DC, are self-evident. Keep Your Hands to Yourself went to number two on the Billboard Chart in 1986, being edged out of first place by Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer. The MTV video circuit had become quite influential by then, and the Satellites received a lot of rotation... and subsequent notoriety. (Looking at the video, you have to ask yourself if these are the guys you'd want hanging around with your daughter...) The band achieved minor comebacks over the years, in 1993 and again in 1997. I believe they are still performing today - hell, unless they're dead, every decent band has made a comeback these days - that's what places like Casino Rama are for... |
