Turned 21 - Fludd , 1971

You make me feel my life is over
You make me feel my life has gone
You make me feel my life is over
Ah, though it's only just begun

Turned 21 without a gray hair
Yes, you might say I had the key to the door
I felt my life was rather sheltered
Oh, but it won't be anymore

Day after day
When everything I did went wrong
I blamed myself then
Then I was a fool
Yes I was a fool
Oh, so doggone blue, yes

You make me feel my life is over
You make me feel my life has gone
You make me feel my life is over
Oh, though it's only just begun

Ooo-----
All my life
Ooo-----
Then I was a fool
Yes I was a fool
Ah, so doggone blue, yea

Toronto area brothers Brian and Ed Pilling went to London England and formed Wages of Sin in 1969, but the project wasn't going in the direction they wanted. They came home, teamed up with bassist Greg Godovitz, and Fludd was born. A self-titled album released in 1971 contained the top 20 Canadian hit Turned 21.

They followed up with hits in 1972, Always Be Thinking Of You, and Cousin Mary in 1973. By 1974, the band was experiencing problems, including Brian's diagnoses of cancer, and the loss of their bassist - Greg quit and formed his own group, Goddo. He was replaced with Doni Underhill, who would eventually go on to join another local band, Trooper. However, despite the set-backs that year, the band achieved it's greatest success to date with the release of Brother And Me. It was debuted during a free concert at Toronto City Hall in front of 50,000 fans.

In June of 1978, Brian Pilling lost his battle with leukemia at the age of only 29, sadly adding an ironic twist to his first hit song. In 1980, Greg Godovitz released a 45 with HomeMade Lady, an original Fludd song, and a special tribute to his friend and former band mate: Fortune In Men's Eyes. The proceeds went to Brian's two children.
