Words - F. R. David, 1982
Words don't come easy to me
How can I find a way to make you see I love You Words don't come easy Words don't come easy to me This is the only way for me to say I love You Words don't come easy Well, I'm just a music man Melodies are so far my best friend But my words are coming out wrong Girl, I reveal my heart to you and Hope that you believe it's true cause Words don't come easy to me How can I find a way to make you see I love You Words don't come easy This is just a simple song That I've made for you on my own There's no hidden meaning you know when I When I say I love you honey Please believe I really do cause Words don't come easy to me How can I find a way to make you see I love You Words don't come easy It isn't easy words don't come easy Words don't come easy to me How can I find a way to make you see I love You Words don't come easy Words don't come easy to me This is the only way for me to say I love You Words don't come easy Words don't come easy |
Eli Robert Fitoussi is a French vocalist born in Tunisia. In the early '70s, he played as a guitarist in the French rock band Vangelis and later, lead singer for Les Variations. After Les Variations broke up, he moved to the US looking for work, and ended up as a studio musician for the likes of the Doobie Brothers, the O`Jays and Toto.
Returning to Europe in the '80s, he performed as the solo artist F. R. David, releasing mostly English language songs such as Words. This single was a smash hit, selling over 8 million copies around the world, and topping most of the 1982 charts in Europe. Since he was a virtual unknown, the high-pitched quality of his vocals lead some to wonder if he was perhaps 'Madame' David...
None-the-less, I think this is one of those rare love songs that's simple, unaffected and truly unique.
