Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea, and apparently, was also in charge of horses and earthquakes. He is probably best known for his three-pronged spear, the trident. In this sculpture, he is sitting in his jeweled throne on the bottom of the seabed, surrounded by a shipwreck.

Swimming in front of him is his sometime consort, Amphitrite, who was believed to have been the Goddess of sea creatures. She took different forms, and I thought a siren, or mermaid, would work in this case; plus, I loved the idea of her long hair drifting in the current.

To round off the undersea theme, I've added a Sea Turtle, a Moray Eel, five Butterfly Fish, and a doomed lobster being eyed by a huge Coelacanth.

There is a lot of sturdy wire, mostly inside the seaweed, holding everything up. Without this reinforcement, parts of my four and a half month's work would snap off in a high wind!

(Oh - Donovan's "Atlantis" may not be an exact match for this project, but it is a cool song... and you will be humming it for the rest of the day.)
